Coming back: a short but deep story
dancing with sharks.
Bloodthirsty, never satisfied.
Woman-handled
by their wants, desires, and perceived
hunger.
I was torn apart,
barely alive but swimming to
safety.
As I bled out, the salt of sea
pierced me. Made me whimper
until I found my voice through my
groan.
My body started to shrivel
as the salt took the moisture I had left.
I wanted to give up.
Then,
A singular mahogany boat
floated by.
There was a man inside, sleeping soundly.
He seemed unbothered, kissed by the sun.
He woke slowly and heard my cries for help.
He reached out his hand,
with no plan to steady his gait
as I pulled him into the water.
"I've got you," He said,
and my groans slowly became quiet.
He offered me a bottle of water and
bread to eat. He took off his cloak,
and gave it to me
to keep me from the harsh winds
that came from the depths of the horizon.
I couldn't speak much, but he hummed
gently as we made it to shore.
I thought He would drop me off,
but He had time to spend as I healed.
He walked across the sands,
and carried me in His hands.
The pain was unmemorable,
and I fell into a deep slumber.
When I woke, I was
dressed in white,
whole body restored.
He wasn't there
but He left a message.
"I'm coming back for you, so take it easy."
Beautifully deep
