Our moment of silence: a poem

Honey.

25 minutes

before we arrive to

the reception.

Let stop the car stop here.

"Why don't we take a walk?"

My hand in yours,

as yours

forever.

As we step,

I lean into your shoulder,

and smile.

Finally.

No more wanting,

no more waiting.

We both chuckle,

we made it.

You glance at your watch.

"Are we late?"

"No, we got much time.

Plus, I wouldn't care to be

anywhere anyway."

We got what we came for.

We share the same soil,

the same sky.

Now the same life.

My breath in cadence

with yours.

A kiss,

just ours.

For no one will know.

I will kiss you forever,

and never tell.

It still feels surreal.

Like Im falling into the sky,

with my feet on the ground.

The tall grass whispers

against my fingertips.

I close my eyes and chuckle.

"What's funny?"

"Oh nothing. I'm so glad we're

finally here."

He reaches for my arms and jolts me

into the sky.

"You are mine.

Don't you

forget it."

We share a laugh,

and it's sweet.

Okay,

time to go.

Seems like only just

45 seconds

has passed.

At least I know

we'll have fun

forever.
