So today is GIVING TUESDAY.
Okay, so today is GIVING TUESDAY.
I find the name funny because over the course of the thanksgiving holiday, I realized a secret to being rich and staying rich, GIVING.
Giving is a principle that is not deeply understood by many. The reason why is because people see the physical aspect of giving. It is you, taking something from your persons, and yielding it over to another. And with the way the world is turning at the moment, everyone has their own collection of trust issues from the past. So many people are far from the absolute truth.
Giving is actually the opposite of how it may look in the physical. Giving is RECEIVING. Giving to another means that you are opening yourself up to receive something far more valuable. Take this instance. Im sure you have done a yard sale before. Most people typically do them because they are preparing to move or preparing to buy something with the profits they hope to make. In many cases, it can be the latter--and the result is usually profit, which makes room to receive something more valuable or useful!
During thanksgiving this year, I made the decision to volunteer. I have been a part of a program since a few years back, and this year, I wanted to spend some time outside myself and serve others. I went to a shelter down in Costa Mesa, California and spent some time with a loving Pastor, his wife, and some movers and shakers in the volunteering community and managed to prepare a delicious meal to residents of a nearby shelter. These people had experienced financial hardship and were in a rough place. As I served them food, many of them spoke about their experiences in life. As we were wrapping up, another volunteer who was there served me a plate of the lunch we had been serving to the residents. Not going to lie, I felt like a queen for a moment 😆. I grabbed a bottle of water and sat down to eat.
"Thank you so much for coming out and spending some time with us", one of the residents said. I smiled and replied, "You are most welcome."
That comment within itself made me so happy, guys. It made my heart leap for joy. I had realized in that moment that that is what true wealth feels like.
Over time, some of the older volunteers who were there came up to me and began to say things like, "I hope one day that you marry the love of your life, get rich, and live life to its fullest." They spoke blessings into my life, and sometimes, that is the fuel that you need to know that you are headed in the right direction. Did I mention that you can activate something in you that you never thought was there?
Giving is indeed the process of receiving. When you give something valuable to you (such as your time, your money, even a possession that you may cherish), you are saying that you plan to receive something so much more valuable than what you have given away. That day, I received a prophetic blessing about where God will take me. It was confirmation to what is to come. Now, that is always a delight to hear!
With all of that being said, make it point to not only give today, but put giving on a schedule! Let your plans be known that you are willing to receive something so much more valuable than what you are giving.
Respectfully,
Whitney 💛
